Evangelism

When a Christian makes an effort to tell someone the truth about sin (about its true nature and how it is a crime against God) and then shares the good news of what Jesus was doing on the Cross, it brings glory to God.  And He deserves it!  We sinners deserve nothing but wrath and punishment for each individual sin we commit, how much more for the hundreds of thousands we are guilty of throughout our lifetimes?  Yet with undeserved kindness and mercy a savior was sent to shed divine blood on our behalf!  Wow!!  We are currently addressing the message and methods of evangelism in one of our Sunday morning classes.  Below are a few links to some various helpful teachings on this crucial subject.  We will have some cd’s with these teachings to give out this Sunday, but if you are the sort that listens at the desktop rather than the freeway, please click the links below.

Hells Best Kept Secret - This is a terrific teaching by Ray Comfort on the “how-to” of sharing biblical Christianity.  In learning how to share the message accurately, this needs to be the first stop!  For more of Ray Comfort’s material, visit Living Waters online.

Discussion of the Gospel - Mark Dever and Albert Mohler discuss the topic with keen biblical insight and years of experience.  Albert Mohler has an interesting blog, but his radio program is not currently in production.  You can find Mark Dever resources online at his church site Capital Hill Baptist or at his well-known 9 Marks website.

Wretched Radio – Below are four different episodes.  Each is a short, somewhat light-hearted discussion on the message or methods of evangelism in our modern culture.  You can find more Wretched Radio online at their website, as evangelism is an often discussed topic.

Wretched 1, Wretched 2, Wretched 3, Wretched 4

Idolatry of Personal Evangelism - Wow!  Paul Washer uses Scripture and sound doctrine to carefully examine the common modern-day message that is put forth as the Gospel.  This is an extremely good teaching that has stirred many to examine what they have believed.  This recording is a clip from the program Fighting for the Faith, which broadcasts daily online.  More challenging and truthful Paul Washer material can be found at Sermon Audio.

Tracts on George Street – This is a very short little account of how one man used gospel tracts to reach a whole lot of people with the message of the gospel.  Before writing off tracts as ineffective, you should really take a listen to this talk!

Note: If you are reading this and haven’t been coming to these classes, you are welcome to join us.  They start at 9:30 Sunday mornings at New Life Baptist Church in Brother James’ office.  Find our contact info HERE.
